In August 1999, a group of like-minded people met to discuss the formation of an organization dedicated to community and individual involvement in the Arts. From this meeting Axminster Arts, which is run by a management committee, was formed.

 

Axminster Arts is based in the Arts Café which is located in The Old Courthouse building in Church Street, Axminster . The café is open from Monday to Saturday  from 9.30am to 4.00pm (Saturday 9.30am to 2.00pm). The Café hosts exhibitions, which change each month, and local artists also supply all the gifts on sale in the Arts and Crafts shop. Profits from the café are used to sponsor the Arts of all forms in the Axminster area.
An “Arts in the Garden” programme is also run each summer which includes musical performances and demonstrations.
